Cops-n-Bobbers Program
Since it's inception in 2003, the Cops-n-Bobbers Program has been a success and positive mentoring program for the Rockford community. Each year in the late spring, the Rockford Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit Six organizes a fishing tournament to show children there is an alternative to drugs and violence through the sport of fishing. Rockford Police Officers volunteer their own time to spend the day with children and teach them the basics of fishing. This interacting between children and police officers has been an excellent approach in the mentoring process. This program will ensure your children see officers as positive role models and even provide you some quality time with your family. We hope to see you on the water! RCOPS Program
The RCOPS Program is a mentoring program where selected children of the Rockford community are invited each year to shop for Christmas gifts with police officers. The Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit Six is proud to host this program as its mission is to help the less fortunate during the holidays. Rockford Police Officers volunteer their own time to shop with children and assist them in picking out a gift they wished to have on Christmas. We hope this program shows everyone the wonderful experience in the gift of giving. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Youth Baseball
The Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit Six has been involved with Roy Gayle baseball for the past twenty years promoting the qualities of sportsmanship, teamwork and just having fun. We are proud to sponsor three teams at Roy Gayle to provide children of the community with the opportunity to play America's favorite past time, baseball. To all the children and families who are involved in this sport, we hope you enjoy the experience and capture the memories.
Safe Trick or Treat
Every year during the month of October, the Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit Six puts on our costumes and supports the Midway Village All-Hollow's Eve Celebration. Each year over 2500 children visit the Midway Village Police Museum to receive candy from Rockford Police Officers volunteering their own time to ensure a safe trick or treat night. If you dare, join us every year for a little frightful fun at this Halloween celebration. For information contact Officer Harold Combs at
